About Us

Mikvah Ma'ayan Ganim is situated in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was constructed with the aim of providing you with a beautiful and meaningful Mikvah experience - physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Mikvah Ma'ayan Ganim is a resource center for learning and spiritual discovery. Since opening in 2013, it has inspired people from all walks of life to bring holiness and G-dliness into their family-life.

The Mikvah is the fuition of the vision of Tyrone and Wendy Zinman and Rabbi Dovid and Feige Hazdan. It was designed and built under the direction of Julian Michaels. Aviva Krost ensures that the decor and products are of the highest quality. Members of the Great Park community and the wider Johannesburg community have contributed to its building. The completion of the Mikvah formed part of Great Park Synagogue's centenneal celebrations.

A "Ma'ayan Ganim" is a “Wellspring of the Gardens” (Shir Hashirim). This name alludes to our ability to bring water to the parched and desolate field and to infuse it with vitality and life. It is an analogy for righteous women who embrace the holy Mitzvah of family purity.

Our Mikvah was build in memory of Rivka and Gavriel Holtzberg who moved to India with the sole purpose of reaching out to fellow Jews there and who were murdered by terrorists in the November 2008 attacks in Mumbai. Theirs was a life committed to spreading light and warmth and holiness. With the building of our Mikvah we strive to perpetuate their life's mission.
